As the festival evolves, understanding and reducing its environmental footprint remains a clear priority.

One important step in this process is mapping CO₂ emissions. A detailed footprint provides insight into what is already working and where further progress can be made. This assessment takes place within the broader WeAreOneWorld organisation, with an initial focus on Tomorrowland Belgium and Winter, where the largest opportunities for impact exist.

Over recent years, several measures have been introduced to address emissions across operations. These include the development of a fixed power network, efforts to streamline global travel and transport choices, and changes in on-site waste, recycling and food management. These initiatives form part of a longer-term approach that continues to be refined and expanded.

Collaboration plays a key role in this journey. Working with partners and platforms that share a commitment to transparency and accountability enables more informed decisions. Previous collaborations, including local community projects, have demonstrated the value of this approach.

A significant share of emissions in the event and festival sector falls under Scope 3 emissions: emissions linked to suppliers and activities outside direct operational control. Addressing these requires clarity and data across the supply chain.

Climatecamp is a sustainability platform that supports businesses in mapping Scope 3 emissions by connecting them with suppliers and gathering comparable emissions data. The platform enables insight into supplier targets, reduction pathways and reporting methods.

Sustainability is an ongoing process rather than a fixed endpoint. By improving measurement, strengthening partnerships and increasing transparency, this work continues to focus on informed decision-making and long-term responsibility.
