Tomorrowland Winter took place on the slopes of Alpe d'Huez. Across the festival, Love Tomorrow ran a programme across five pillars: Responsibility, Nature, Innovation, Health, and Respect. Each pillar was translated into concrete actions, measured where possible, building on previous editions. Here's a look at what that meant in practice.

RESPONSIBILITY

Circular economy and waste

Recycling and cleaning operations ran throughout the entire festival. More than 100 recycling volunteers were active across the site and mountain areas, supported by 10 Recycle Backpacks, 10 Cup Return Backpacks, 3,000 portable ashtrays, 200 fixed ashtrays, and 130 recycling units. All waste was sorted manually to create clearly separated waste streams.

Reusable cups and plates

RFID-enabled reusable cups have been in place at Tomorrowland Winter since 2025. In 2026, RFID-enabled reusable plates were introduced for the first time, alongside reusable cutlery, enabling immediate deposit return and strengthening circular material flows across the site. Tomorrowland Winter remains the first festival to have introduced this technology.

Sustainability assessment

Love Tomorrow partnered with A Greener Future (AGF) to evaluate Tomorrowland Winter's sustainability performance. Meetings were held with key departments across the organisation, and AGF assessors conducted an on-site evaluation during the festival. A full report will be published in the coming months, establishing a verified baseline to guide future editions.

Love Tomorrow Manifesto

The Love Tomorrow Manifesto was introduced to artists during the 2026 edition. Artists with a public platform and an exemplary role are invited to lead by example in their sustainability choices, both on and off stage. The manifesto outlines concrete commitments: travelling by train where possible, avoiding single-use items, recycling and using ashtrays to prevent littering in the mountains, preventing food waste by reducing rider requests, keeping the DJ booth and backstage free from single-use plastics, and saving electricity in dressing rooms and backstage areas. Artists interested in going further are invited to become Love Tomorrow Ambassadors, using their influence to support wider environmental progress at Tomorrowland and beyond.

NATURE

Water

Together with MTD, a Blue Wave report was established to measure water usage and identify reduction opportunities. Smart water meters were installed across the festival grounds and mountain areas, providing reliable baseline measurements.

At multiple festival locations, urine was collected and processed into a bio-based fertiliser. Based on 2025 data, 2,000 litres were collected, supporting approximately 800 hectares of farmland in France, with an estimated CO₂e reduction of 70 tonnes compared to conventional waste management for this stream. The project was initiated in 2025 and continued in 2026. Compostable toilet units were installed in mountain areas as an additional measure to reduce water consumption.

Energy

Since 2024, Tomorrowland Winter has operated without conventional fossil fuels for on-site energy generation. Power is supplied via a fixed network using Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO100), a biofuel derived from used cooking oils. Compared to previous diesel-based systems, this results in an estimated 80–90% reduction in energy-related carbon emissions, approximately 300 tonnes of CO₂ based on 2025 operational volumes.

Mobility

All organised visitor bus transport operated on 100% HVO100, in collaboration with Sunweb. This represented a 30% increase in the use of HVO100 compared to 2025. All three warehouse suppliers operated on HVO from 2026 onwards. The Eurostar Snow train became available as a travel option when booking a Tomorrowland Winter package, offering a lower-emission alternative to flying or driving.

Carpooling was available for visitors through Slinger. In 2025, this initiative resulted in an estimated reduction of 4,000 kg of CO₂e. In 2026, the programme delivered 45 verified rides, matching 13 passengers and saving 2,402 km and 464 kg of CO₂ based on confirmed passengers.

Biodiversity

Together with Naturise, a biodiversity assessment was conducted of the festival environment. This assessment supports the development of a location-specific action plan for the Alpe d'Huez region.

INNOVATION

Special effects

Only biodegradable confetti and streamers were used for all special effects throughout the festival. Conventional CO₂ jets were replaced by ECOJET systems, creating smoke effects without CO₂ gas bottles.

HEALTH

The Recharge Hub

The Recharge Hub returned in 2026: a conscious retreat at the foot of the mountain, located next to the busiest ski lift. With an estimated reach of over 34,000 passersby throughout the festival, the space ran two session formats each day.

The Echo of Stillness focused on grounding, resetting and self-awareness, guiding visitors through meditation centered on light therapy and sound healing. The Rhythm of Joy brought movement, breathing and connection, facilitating togetherness and celebrating vitality.

Free sunscreen

Free SPF 30 sunscreen was available at all Mountain Stages throughout the festival. Dispensers were located at Orbyz at Chantebise, Frozen Lotus at Folie Douce, and Reflection of Love at Signal.

RESPECT

Accessibility and inclusion

Visitors with a range of visible and invisible disabilities were invited to the festival to evaluate accessibility firsthand. Based on their feedback, targeted actions will be developed to make Tomorrowland Winter more accessible in future editions. The evaluation was conducted with support from Invlusiv' Events and Ladapt.

Local communities

Multiple local food suppliers based in Alpe d'Huez contributed to the festival's food offering, including a holder of the Maître Restaurateur certification. A Sweet and Bubbles formula was available during the festival, featuring a butterfly chocolate cake made by local pâtissier Mathias Dogon, using chocolate produced in France.

These actions form the Love Tomorrow programme at Tomorrowland Winter 2026. The data gathered this edition informs what comes next.
