
Dr Magali Surmont is a Belgian gastroenterologist who combines clinical practice, research and science communication to improve the prevention and early detection of gastrointestinal diseases. Alongside her work at Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel, she is committed to translating scientific evidence into everyday clinical practice and making medical topics accessible to both healthcare professionals and the public. Her PhD research at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel focuses on anal HPV infections, anal cancer screening and the prevention of HPV-related anal disease in high-risk populations, and she is principal investigator of a Belgian multicentre study on this topic. As European co-chair of the International Anal Neoplasia Society's Growing the Workforce initiative, she helps expand education and training in high-resolution anoscopy across Europe.
