Emma Pals is a self-confessed treehugger at heart, though her career began far from the green bubble in the fast-paced world of management consulting. Convinced that genuine progress must be sustainable, she moved to VITO, the science-to-technology partner supporting industry and policymakers in the transition to a more resilient future. She first worked as a circular-economy researcher, collaborating with industry on circular business models and helping policymakers design future-proof sustainability strategies. Today she manages the IMPACT team, leading VITO's corporate strategy and sustainability journey. A strong believer in doing strategy sustainably and sustainability strategically, she draws on what she calls her "ex-consultant syndrome" to keep aiming for maximum impact.
