Brida Mbuwir holds an MSc in electrical engineering for smart grids and buildings from Grenoble INP and a PhD in electrical engineering from KU Leuven. She is a researcher in the Water and Energy Transition Unit of VITO, where she focuses on applying recent advances in smart-grid and renewable-energy projects. Her work creates impact by increasing energy efficiency and access and by reducing energy poverty through demand-side management and cost-effective renewable solutions. She is also part of the 2025 cohort of Young Energy Ambassadors for the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER) at the European Commission.
