Healthtech Needs Us
Bart Haex
In a world that is increasingly benefiting from, and driven by, technology and AI in particular, the healthcare sector is surprisingly underserved. That can be attributed to large differences between subsectors, for example medical imaging versus home care, and to large parts of the population not having access to the opportunities healthtech creates. While the drivers, or rather stoppers, are clear (lack of investment and entrepreneurship, fragmentation), we fail to realise that the system is us, and that we can make things possible. Change starts with us, as a person, patient, or employee of an organisation or company that contributes.
By speaking with one voice, we overcome fragmentation and strengthen advocacy to invest more in health, and hence in people. By actively promoting and participating in innovative, people-centred and entrepreneurial initiatives, we can show what new technology, and new models, can do for healthcare, and illustrate the benefits of investing in people.
